Toronto Marlies forward Matt Frattin will miss the Calder Cup final with a knee injury that will require surgery.
It's unclear how much time he will need to rehab the injury.
Frattin was a key performer for the Marlies during the team's current run to the AHL championship series. The 24-year-old had a team-leading 10 goals along with three assists in 13 games.
The Toronto Maple Leafs' top farm club is preparing to face the Norfolk Admirals in Game 1 this Friday. Norfolk is the top affiliate of the Tampa Bay Lightning.
The injury is just the latest for a Marlies team that has been hurting recently. Forwards Mike Zigomanis and Nazem Kadri, along with blueliners Jesse Blacker, Korbinian Holzer, and Mark Fraser all missed practice this week with various ailments.
Frattin appeared in 56 games for the Maple Leafs last season, and scored eight goals and seven assists. The Edmonton native was a fourth-round pick of the Leafs in the 2007 Draft.
