Another day, another roster move for the Toronto Blue Jays.
On Tuesday the club announced that outfielder Eric Thames has been sent to the Triple-A Las Vegas 51s and infielder Mike McCoy has been recalled.
Thames, who beat out Travis Snider for the starting left field job in spring training, has three home runs, 11 RBIs, nine walks, 40 strikeouts and a line of .243/.288/.365./.652 in 160 plate appearances with Toronto in 2012.
In 2011, the 25-year-old batted .262/.313/.456/.769 with 12 home runs and 37 RBIs in 394 plate appearances with the Blue Jays.
Following Monday's 6-2 win over the Baltimore Orioles, Blue Jays manager John Farrell hinted that a roster move to add some infield depth was forthcoming.
Shortstop Yunel Escobar sat out Monday with a groin injury while second baseman Kelly Johnson started despite nursing a sore hamstring.
The 31-year-old McCoy has played in 44 games with the Las Vegas 51s in 2012, posting a line of .238/.381/.294/.675 while seeing time in the field at at second base, third base, shortstop and the outfield.
