OTTAWA -- The Ottawa Senators signed U.S. college defenceman Chris Wideman to a two-year entry-level contract Wednesday.
The St. Louis native played 41 games with the Miami (Ohio) Redhawks in 2011-12, registering 24 points (four goals, 20 assists) and 40 penalty minutes.
In four years with the Redhawks, the 22-year-old recorded 95 points (12 goals, 83 assists) and 191 penalty minutes in 163 games.
Originally drafted by the Senators in the fourth round, 100th overall, in the 2009 NHL draft, Wideman has participated in the team's annual development camp each of the last three summers.
