{allcanada} Canada still loves the Oscars

According to Canadian TV viewers, there is no difference between Billy Crystal and James Franco and Anne Hathaway, and there is no difference between The Artist and The King's Speech.

At least, that's the conclusion you could draw upon seeing the ratings numbers provided by CTV for Sunday night's telecast of the 84th annual Academy Awards, which were hosted by Crystal and saw The Artist win best picture.

CTV says this year's Oscars attracted 6.1 million viewers in Canada. That's almost identical to the 6.11 million viewers who watched last year, when Franco and Hathaway hosted, and The King's Speech won best picture.

In the U.S., meanwhile, a little more than 39 million Americans watched the Oscars on ABC Sunday night. That was up a bit from last year's total of 37.6 million.
