{allcanada} Ailing Celine Dion cancels this week's Las Vegas shows

Singer and Las Vegas stage performer Celine Dion is taking a break this week from her Caesars Palace shows.

Performances scheduled through Wednesday have been canceled.

According to her official site:

Celine is battling a virus that has caused inflammation of her vocal chords. (sic) She is currently receiving treatment for this condition, and has been instructed to rest. ... Celine is very upset about disappointing her fans, and wants to apologize for inconveniencing them.

The singer added her own statement to the announcement:

"I feel terrible about not being able to do these shows. I feel so bad for the fans. I don't like to let people down....it's the thing that bothers me more than anything. I really hope everyone understands how sorry I am."

Shows are expected to resume March 3, according to Dion's site.
