/ CD / DCC / MD, DVD-HD / BD etc which always delay and complicate
development of these technologies. Also the best format is not always the
winner (to quote Betamax and DAT again).

Where do you see it going??
The future has been here for quite a while. My receiver has Audissey
XT and individual bass and treble controls for all channels. The
result is quite good for movies. But when it comes to music, I prefer
pure audio output. HDMI is effectively a potential (or probable)
jitter source for uncompressed material, So I have recently abandoned
HDMI for music.
The alternative/interactive mixes might be good if they promote the
interest for surround. But I peraonally would always prefer a ready-
made mix, especially if it is a part of the creative work by artist
and others involved.
