{allcanada} DICKENSON WITHDRAWS NAME FROM TICATS HEAD COACHING SEARCH

Dave Dickenson will not be a head coach in the CFL next season.

The long-time pivot and current offensive coordinator with the Calgary Stampeders has withdrawn his name for consideration for the Hamilton head coaching position.

Instead, Dickenson has agreed to an extension with the Stampeders. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Dickenson's name came up as a possible candidate for the vacancy after the Tiger-Cats fired Marcel Bellefeuille - despite leading the Tabbies to the franchise's first playoff win in a decade.

Dickenson joined the Stamps in 2009 as running backs coach, and the following season was named quarterbacks coach and also called offensive plays during games.

Under his play calling, Calgary's offence led the league in scoring, yards of offence and first downs. Quarterback Henry Burris was also named league's Most Outstanding Player.

Moved up to offensive coordinator this past year, the Stampeders were tied for second in points per game, offensive yards per game and first downs.

The Stampeders were eliminated in the West semi-final by the Edmonton Eskimos last year.
