{allcanada} LEAFS' MACARTHUR SCHEDULED FOR DISCIPLINARY HEARING TODAY

BareNecessities.com

Maple Leafs forward Clarke MacArthur is scheduled for a disciplinary hearing today at Noon et for his hit on Justin Abdelkader of the Detroit Red Wings last night.

MacArthur will meet with NHL Director of Player Safety Brendan Shanahan and plead his case that he did not target the head of Abdelkader.

"Obviously I wasn't trying to target his head... I just grazed him and I think he was trying to draw a penalty," MacArthur said after last night's game. "It was just one of those plays [that] hopefully it shows it on the tape. But I was obviously going for his shoulder and trying to get out of the zone with the puck there."

MacArthur is hopeful that he will avoid a suspension and be in the lineup for the Maple Leafs when they open the season against the Montreal Canadiens on Thursday.

"They don't want that going on, [but] that was not my intention whatsoever so hopefully everything just works out," added MacArthur.
