Re: [SurroundSound] Re: PS3 SACD rips

Yeah I thought it was probably the same rip that was used, but as you said the conversion to DSD definitely livened the music for me at least.  I thought the DVD-A wasn't bad but this was a considerably better job.  The parsons i robot however didn't fare quite as well.  But that has already been released at 24/192 on hdad if I remember correctly so aside from the surround the definitive version already exists.  Yeah it should be interesting to hear the real version here soon--if this is any indication it should be a very good release.  I'm wondering if their choices for remasters has anything to do with the condition of the masters or just the fact that most of this stuff was done years ago and just never released?   I would think Meddle and Animals would have been obvious choices as well.  Of course they could be waiting to see how many copies sell...but at 150 bucks a pop I suppose 100k of sales would be pretty darn good.  Now when do we get some modern music in surround again?

Got the WYWH Q8 transfer to SACD.  I believe it may be the QPS rip that has been transferred.  Sounds like there may have been some minor re-EQing in the process.  That said I definitely hear how the DSD has "smoothed" the sound of the transfer.  Rears are much softer than the hub remaster.  It will be interesting to compare this and the Parsons DSOTM with the official quad re-releases coming soon.
