Personally, nearly all my music listening is from a PC. With a sound card
that costs more than a basic desktop PC.

I take four analogue channels - and only four - out to whatever receiver I
prefer. Choices at present are Sansui QRX-9001 (scarce), Sansui QRX-999
(very scarce), Sansui QA-5000 (very rare) and soon an Akai AS-1080DB
(rare).

I'm not sure where your "crummy" speakers would fit in.
