The No. 1 pick in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League draft continues to make an impact in his rookie season.
Nathan MacKinnon was the first star in the Halifax Mooseheads' 5-4 overtime victory over the Acadie-Bathurst Titan on Friday after assisting on Matthew Boudreau's game-winning goal.
The Cole Harbour, N.S., native finished the night with a goal and three assists.
Elsewhere in the QMJHL it was: Cape Breton 8, Saint John 5; Drummondville 5, Rouyn-Noranda 2; Chicoutimi 4, Quebec 3 (OT); Victoriaville 5, Baie-Comeau 3; Blainville-Boisbriand 7, Gatineau 0; and Val-d'Or 4 Rimouski 2.
At Halifax, Luca Ciampini scored twice and added two assists for the Mooseheads (2-1-0), while Darcy Ashley had a goal and two assists.
Christophe Losier led Acadie-Bathurst (3-0-1) with two goals and an assist. Adam Stevens and Sean Girard also scored for the Titan.
