Despite suffering bruised ribs in last week's loss to the Saskatchewan Roughriders, quarterback Buck Pierce will get the start this week when the Winnipeg Blue Bombers visit the Montreal Alouettes on Sunday.
Head coach Paul LaPolice announced his decision on Friday, after Pierce completed his second straight day of practice.
Pierce, who has a history of injury problems over his seven-year CFL career, was on the receiving end of a number of hits last week, including a ferocious sack by Riders safety Craig Butler that led to Pierce's helmet flying off.
Earlier this week, the Blue Bombers placed LB Joe Lobendahn on the nine-game injured list and did the same with SB Kito Poblah on Friday.
First place in the East Division will be on the line when the Blue Bombers (7-3) take on the Alouettes (6-4) at Percival Molson Stadium. You can watch the game on TSN at 1pm et/10am pt.
