There's a fun-killing lesson in the second-season debut of the comedy InSecurity, which airs Monday, Oct. 3 on CBC.
The fictitious Canadian spy agency NISA has its internal communications stolen and published by the infamous WikiLeaks. But while there is some concern from employees about the foreign operatives now in jeopardy, the main worry is a lengthy email chain where everyone is making fun of a co-worker's clothes.
You don't have to work for NISA to take heed: In the Internet age, everything you type is only one step away from being public. Conduct yourselves accordingly.
There is a danger in tying episodic TV to real-life events. WikiLeaks, for example, was one of the hottest stories in the world last spring, but the subject already seems a little stale.
As for InSecurity's comedy, the producers have retooled it from a spy parody in season one to a more claustrophobic workplace sitcom in Season 2. It's a big cast, though, and some of these characters work way better than others, so let's just hope the focus is on the right ones.
