{allcanada} SHEPLEY FINISHES AS TOP CANADIAN AT WOMEN'S OPEN

MIRABEL, Que. -- Jessica Shepley ended up as low Canadian when her closest competitors fell back in rough weather and 16-year-old Jisoo Keel was low amateur for the tournament Sunday at the CN Canadian Women's Open.

Shepley, from Oakville, Ont., finished with a 2-over-par 74 to post a 1-under total of 287 for the four rounds at Hillsdale Golf Club.

She began the day two shots behind Maude-Aimee Leblanc of Sherbrooke, Que., who struggled to an 80 to finish at even par 288.

Keel was in her first LPGA tournament. She closed with a 74 to end it tied for 66th at 4-over 292.

"It was an amazing experience," she said. "It was great to play my first LPGA tournament here in Canada.

"I'm used to rain because I come from the West Coast. But I'm happy I didn't shoot really bad today."

Leblanc began the day at 8 under, only four strokes off the lead, but ended up tied for 49th at even par 288.

"If I shot 80 the first day I wouldn't have made the cut, so that's the thing to take out of it, I guess," a downcast Leblanc said.

Veteran Lorie Kane of Charlottetown never got it going. The 46-year-old closed with a 75 to finish tied for 63rd at 3 over.

Samantha Richdale of Kelowna, B.C., who opened with a 66 on Thursday but turned in an 81 in the third round two days later, finished with a 77 at 9 over to end tied for 75th.

It also a very rough day for Montreal's Lisa Meldrum, who began the day 3 under but shot 85, including a triple bogey and two doubles, to end up 78th and last at 10 over 298.

"It was terrible," she said. "I got off to a bad start. I putted bad. I did everything bad."
