The B.C. Lions could be close to landing a receiver from the Hamilton Tiger-Cats.
Vancouver radio station CKWX News 1130 is reporting that the Lions have talked to the Cats and receiver Maurice Mann, who has missed the last two games with a foot injury. Receiver/returner Marquay McDaniel, who has become a spare part for the Cats, has also been discussed in trade scenarios.
However, Ticats' general manager Bob O'Billovich told sportsnet.ca his team is not shopping any players, and that it is routine for teams to call another about trades. He did not want to comment on any of the players whom other teams might want, nor did he want to speculate on any immediacy of a trade.
Arland Bruce, who has gone from the Cats' feature receiver to third or fourth now, has also been discussed, but his situation is more complex than the other two. He has a fairly hefty salary and is currently a hobbled by a leg, although it's not considered serious.
Because of his impact as a go-to player when he's on his game, his value is significantly higher than that of Mann or McDaniel.
The Lions are last in the CFL with an 0-5 record and have had numerous issues with their receivers dropping passes.
