BANFF, Alta. -- Venezuelan golfer Jhonattan (Johnathan) Vegas was the top money earner on the first day of the Telus Skins Game Monday while Canadian Stephen Ames was a close runner up.
Vegas, the first Venezuelan to win a PGA event, is making his first appearance at a skins game.
He won two skins on the 6th and 8th holes for a total of $55,000.
Ames, who is playing in his fourth Telus Skins game, had a good start winning the first three skins for $45,000.
American Anthony Kim walked away with two skins worth $30,000 while England's Paul Casey picked up the only birdie on the par 4 ninth hole for $20,000.
Lucas Glover of the U.S. was the only player to walk away empty handed.
