It appears the Toronto Blue Jays intend to be players at the Major League Baseball trade deadline.
According to a Sports Illustrated report, the Blue Jays have dealt reliever Jason Frasor and a prospect to the White Sox in exchange for starting pitcher Edwin Jackson.
Jackson is 7-7 in 19 starts this season with an earned-run-average of 2.92 and a WHIP of 1.42. The 27-year-old right-hander would complement a young pitching staff that already includes Ricky Romero, Brandon Morrow and Brett Cecil.
Frasor has appeared in 44 games out of the bullpen this season with an earned-run-average of 2.98 and a WHIP of 1.25. The 33-year-old veteran has a 2-1 record this season. With the White Sox 4.5 games behind the Detroit Tigers in the American League Central Division, Frasor would bolster a bullpen that has seen Sergio Santos and Matt Thornton blow seven saves this season. Frasor recently became the Blue Jays all-time appearances leader, pitching in his 453rd game in a Jays uniform.
With the trade deadline days away, Frasor and many of the Jays other relief pitchers have been rumored to be on the block as attractive rental players to competing clubs due to their expiring contracts.
