In a swap of defensemen, the Anaheim Ducks acquired Kurtis Foster on Friday from the Edmonton Oilers in exchange for Andy Sutton.
Foster, 29, registered 8 goals and 22 points in his lone season in Edmonton. The previous season, in Tampa Bay, he had 8 goals and 42 points and was named a finalist for the Masterton Trophy after overcoming a serious leg injury that limited him to 10 games with Minnesota during the 2008-09 season.
A second-round pick of Calgary in the 2000 Entry Draft, Foster has compiled 37 goals and 141 points in 331 NHL games for the Thrashers, Wild, Lightning and Oilers.
Sutton, 36, recorded 4 assists in 39 games last season for Anaheim. An undrafted free agent who broke into the League with San Jose during the 1998-99 season, he has 35 goals and 140 points in 624 career games for the Sharks, Wild, Thrashers, Islanders, Senators and Ducks.
