The Edmonton Oilers opened free agency by signing forward Ben Eager to a three-year deal Friday and followed with a series of other moves.

The six-foot-two, 235-pound forward will earn $3.3 million US after scoring seven goals and 17 points last season.

The Oilers also signed defenceman Cam Barker and forwards Eric Belanger and Darcy Hordichuk to one-year contracts, gave Eric Belanger a three-year term, and obtained Andy Sutton from Anaheim in a trade of defenceman for Kurtis Foster.

Eager, 27, was drafted 23rd overall by Phoenix in 2002. He has 34 goals and 35 assists in 323 games with Philadelphia, Chicago, Atlanta and San Jose.

He also won a Stanley Cup with the Blackhawks last year.

Barker, 25, had one goal and four assists in 52 games with Minnesota last season. The Wild bought out Barker on Friday and will pay him $900,000 over two seasons.

The 6-3, 215-pound blue-liner 19 goals and 73 assists in 271 career games with Chicago and Minnesota.

Hordichuk, 24, had one goal and four assists in 64 games with Florida last season. The 6-1, 211-pound left winger has 19 goals and 19 assists in 495 career games with Atlanta, Phoenix, Nashville, Vancouver and the Panthers.

Belanger, 33, joins his seventh team. He's played 716 games with 134 goals and 205 assists with Los Angeles, Carolina, Atlanta, Minnesota, Washington and Phoenix.

The six-foot-seven Sutton played in 39 games for the Ducks last season. He's suited up for San Jose, Minnesota, the New York Islanders, Atlanta and Ottawa.
