[SurroundSound] Handshaking problem

Hello folks,

I wanted to share with you a problem with HDMI handshaking that maybe
you can help me with. Grill told me that it seems to be a handshaking
problem and I agree with him (thanks grill), but I am open to other
(less traumatic) theories:

A. My PC (Windows 7, Older AMD 64 processor, ATI 5450) is connected to
my LCD TV through a Pioneer A/V VSX-AX4AVi . Everything interconnected
through HDMI 1.2.

B. When operating in 1920x1080 resolution the screen flicks and
sometimes the signal is even lost for some seconds (kind of snow on
the screen). This does NOT happen with lower resolutions such as
1260x720. When I am in 1920x1080 (flickering) and change it to
1260x720, the same problem appears, but if I start windows in
1260x720, everything is OK again.

C. My Cambridge DVD player is connected through HDMI to the A/V
Pioneer too (as the PC), but there are no problems, so that makes me
think that the handshaking problem might not be between the A/V and
the LCD (since the combination DVD-A/V-LCD works ok), but between the
PC and the A/V. Just a theory....

Questions:

1. Did you ever have this problem and, if so, how did you solve it?

2. Could it be some kind of configuration problem in Windows 7 or in
Catalyst? Is there something I should look for in the OS or in the
videocard application?

3. Do you think that a downgrade to Windows XP would work?

Whatever other comments are welcomed. I'm lost.

Thanks everyone.
