{allcanada} PRACTICE: Fitzpatrick Adapts Quick To ICAR

MIRABEL, Que. -- JR Fitzpatrick put down the fastest lap Saturday afternoon over two practice sessions at Circuit ICAR as the NASCAR Canadian Tire Series makes its debut at the 2.113-mile road course.

Fitzpatrick had a lap of 1 minute, 36.7 seconds for an average speed of 78.690 mph. Qualifying for the Grand Prix ICAR is scheduled for Saturday at 4 p.m., with the race set to take the green flag Sunday at 3:30 p.m.

Scott Steckly was second fastest at 1:37.1 (78.317), followed by Robin Buck (1:37.2/78.280) and Kerry Micks (1:37.6/77.921). The top four times came during the second practice session.

Alex Tagliani was fastest in the first practice at 1:37.7 (77.899), which put him fifth overall. Defending series champion DJ Kennington was sixth overall, followed by Kerry Micks, Jeff Lapcevich and Don Thomson Jr. Steckly's time in the first practice was fourth quick in that session and 10th overall.
