Michelle Wright has been announced this year's Artist inductee into the 2011 Canadian Country Music Hall of Fame in recognition of her outstanding contributes to Canada's country music scene. Michelle has received rave reviews for her powerful voice for the last two decades and sold nearly two million albums in North America. She is also the first Canadian artist in the modern era of country music to have a Top Ten hit in America with "Take It Like A Man" in 1992.
"What a tremendous honour," Michelle said. "I deeply appreciate this recognition and am so very proud to have had the opportunity to represent Canada across the globe through my music. I have been blessed, and continue to be blessed, with a wonderful career. My thanks go out to the CCMA, along with my fans and industry friends, Brian Ferriman – my manager of more than 25 years, my outstanding team, and my husband, Marco, for helping make this recognition possible."
The Canadian Country Music Hall of Fame inductions will take place during a private event to be held during Canada's Country Music Week scheduled for September 9 – 12. After her induction, Michelle will have an official plaque displayed at the Canadian Country Music Hall of Fame located in Merritt, BC. Bill Langstroth, the host of Canada's, "Singalong Jubilee," will also be inducted in the Industry Builder category.
