George Stroumboulopoulos landed the big one on Saturday.
The Strombo Show host went one-on-one with Prime Minister Stephen Harper on Scotiabank Hockey Tonight before Game 2 of the Stanley Cup Final on Hockey Night in Canada.
The pair talked in the Prime Minister's office in Ottawa, where Harper discussed the Vancouver Canucks' Stanley Cup run.
"It pulls everyone together, it just galvanizes everyone [when a Canadian team is in the Cup final]," he said. "I think right now, everybody's for the Canucks.
"This is the best shot we've had in a long time."
Vancouver's thrilling Game 1 victory Wednesday night on CBC's Hockey Night in Canada was enjoyed by a record-breaking average audience of 5.6 million, beating out the 4.96 million viewers the Canucks and New York Rangers drew during Game 7 of the 1994 Cup final.
Harper also touched on the NHL's return to Winnipeg.
"It's fantastic news," he said. "I must admit, I didn't think we'd see another Canadian team in the NHL for a long time, so this is just fantastic news for Winnipeg and for the country."
The city of Winnipeg, meanwhile, was officially welcomed back into the NHL fold on Tuesday.
Stroumboulopoulos also asked the Prime Minister if he has a penchant for yelling at the TV during games.
"I used to be," he said. "I've calmed down a bit.
"I get to do that every day in the House of Commons," he laughed.
