{allcanada} STAMPEDERS ADD SEVEN PLAYERS TO ROSTER BEFORE CAMP

CALGARY -- The Calgary Stampeders made some last-minute additions to their training-camp roster Tuesday by signing seven players.

The rookies are on the field Thursday with main camp beginning Sunday.

Calgary signed wide receivers Jake Allen and Tyrone Collins, defensive backs Andre Clarke and Demetrice Morley, linebacker Terrance Stringer and defensive linemen Thomas Majors and Jamontay Pilson.

Stampeder head coach and GM John Hufnagel also announced Tuesday that left tackle Edwin Harrison suffered a torn pectoral muscle while working out last week and won't participate in training camp. Harrison was a candidate to replace all-star Ben Archibald, who signed with the B.C. Lions in the off-season.

Clarke, from Mississauga, Ont., spent the last two seasons with York University, recording 48.5 tackles, a sack and three interceptions last year. He also played for the University of Manitoba Bisons in 2007 and 2008.

Allen, out of Mississippi College, played two games for the NFL's Cleveland Browns in 2009 and one for Green Bay in 2008. Collins, whose father Tony was a running back with the New England Patriots, played four seasons at Wagner University. Collins made 32 catches for four touchdowns and had 488 receiving yards in his senior year.

Morley had 108 tackles, five interceptions and a sack over his three seasons an the University of Tennessee. Stringer moved from quarterback to safety at Tuskegee University, where he had 127 tackles, three interceptions, 11 pass knockdowns and a blocked field goal over the 2006 and 2007 seasons. He spent time on the New York Giants roster in 2008.

Majors spent the last two seasons at Western Kentucky and recorded 105 tackles in 2010. Pilson was at Northwest Mississippi Community College the last two years. in 10 games, he compiled 48 tackles, three sacks, two forced fumbles, two blocked sacks and 11 quarterback hurries in 2010.
