Montreal Canadiens defenceman Hal Gill has agreed to terms on a one-year, $2.25 million contract.
The Concord, Mass., native, will receive the same salary he earned with the club in each of the past two seasons.
Set to become an unrestricted free agent on July 1st, the 36 year-old veteran defenceman had two goals and seven assists with a minus -9 rating and 43 penalty minutes in 75 games last season.
Gill spent the past two seasons in Montreal after winning the Stanley Cup with the Pittsburgh Penguins in 2009.
The Canadiens will still have five other unrestricted free agent defensemen, including Andrei Markov, James Wisniewski and Roman Hamrlik.
