Scott Mitchell will be reporting to the Edmonton Eskimos' camp on time.
The second overall pick in this year's CFL Canadian college draft has signed a contract with the Eskimos.
That means the six-foot-five, 295-pound Rice offensive tackle will take part in drills Wednesday when Edmonton and all other league teams open their rookie camps.
Edmonton head coach Kavis Reed announced the move during a conference call Tuesday.
Mitchell, who was the top-ranked prospect in this year's draft, is the second high-profile rookie to sign a CFL contract this week. On Monday, the Winnipeg Blue Bombers signed linebacker Henoc Muamba, who was taken first overall.
Earlier, receivers Anthony Parker (third overall to Calgary) and Marco Iannuzzi (sixth overall to B.C.) came to terms with their respective clubs. That leaves pass catchers Jade Etienne (fourth overall to Winnipeg) and Nathan Coehoorn (fifth overall to Edmonton) as the lone first-rounders yet to sign although the expectation is both will do so and take part in their respective rookie camps.
Neither Tulsa offensive lineman Tyler Holmes (No. 7 to Toronto) nor kicker Brody McKnight (No. 8 to Montreal) have signed CFL deals as they're both returning to school this fall.
Veterans are scheduled to report for medicals Saturday before starting twice daily workouts Sunday.
