Steven Anthony has signed with the Vancouver Canucks a day after helping lead the Saint John Sea Dogs to a Memorial Cup title.
The winger from Halifax had 23 goals and 37 assists in 61 games during the QMJHL's regular season.
The 20-year-old had 66 goals and 97 assists in 244 goals played over four seasons with the Sea Dogs.
Anthony also appeared in his first NHL pre-season game on September 21, 2010 at Calgary, registering four shots on goal.
The Sea Dogs downed hosts Mississauga St. Michael's Majors 3-1 in the Memorial Cup final Sunday.
The six-foot-two, 187-pound forward was selected by Vancouver in the seventh round, 187th overall, in the 2009 NHL Entry Draft.
Sens ink Wolverine
Forward Louie Caporusso signed a two-year entry level contract with the Ottawa Senators on Monday.
Caporusso, from Toronto, was a member of the University of Michigan Wolverines team that reached the NCAA championship game this April.
The five-foot-10, 180-pound centre played 41 games for the Wolverines this season, scoring 11 times and adding 20 assists. In four years with Michigan, he had 68 goals and 76 assists while registering 96 penalty minutes in 160 games. He ranked second in team scoring in each of his sophomore, junior and senior seasons.
Caporusso was drafted by Ottawa in the third round of the 2007 NHL Entry Draft, 90th overall.
