RDS and the Montreal Gazette are reporting that Montreal Canadiens prospect Louis Leblanc will undergo shoulder surgery on Tuesday.
He is expected to miss 4-6 months rehabbing, which could put the start of his season in jeopardy.
The 20-year-old from Pointe-Claire Quebec recorded 26 goals and 58 points in 51 games in his first season with the Montreal Juniors in the QMJHL. Leblanc also had nine points in 10 games in the post-season for Montreal.
Leblanc also won a silver medal with Team Canada at the World Junior Championship, recording seven points in seven games.
The surgery will be performed by renowned surgeon Dr. James Andrews.
