{allcanada} 'Vampire Diaries': Nina Dobrev's fitness fun and Joseph Morgan's role research

When you're pulling double doppelganger duty on a hit TV show, you've got to stay in shape! Nina Dobrev, who is suffering from a little bit of crash-and-burn now that she's on a break from "The Vampire Diaries," stopped by the CW affiliate in NYC to discuss her new Seventeen Fitness cover and to tease the next few episodes of the show.

Though the cover of Seventeen Fitness stresses that Nina's not a workout freak, she does get her exercise in. "I just came back from pseudo vacation if you will," she says, "and I feel like when I go away on a beach vacation, I haven't gone to the gym once, I feel better and I'm more in shape than I am when I'm in town and I'm in my work routine. Your lifestyle is more active. You go to the beach, you're playing volleyball, you're windsurfing, you're scuba diving. Without even thinking about it, you're expending all this energy and having fun."

Dobrev also discussed her characters Elena and Katherine, and how there's a little bit of her in both of them -- and, perhaps, a little bit of them in her, too. "It's bringing out a lot of things that I never would have thought in myself," she says. "I find myself doing a lot of different Katherine-isms. Art imitates life and vice-versa."

Meanwhile, on the left coast, the newest monster in Mystic Falls visited the KTLA morning show. In that leather jacket, Joseph Morgan will fit right in, won't he? The one and only Original vampire-werewolf hybrid noted that before auditioning for the role, he didn't know much about the character, but after he got the callback, he did a little googling.

"I got a call saying they wanted me to meet the creators of the show, Kevin Williamson and Julie Plec, and I thought, I'll just look online and see if this character was in the books," he says. "And I found pages and pages of who's going to play Klaus and all of these suggestions... and I thought, 'I'm so glad that I didn't look at all this stuff before I read for it because I think I would've felt the pressure.'"

He also got the chance to give a shout-out to Positive Women, his favorite non-profit organization, which raises funds and awareness to empower the women of Swaziland, a small nation in Southern Africa.
