Toronto FC is expected to hold a press conference on Friday afternoon where it is believed they will announce the club has traded Dwayne De Rosario to the New York Red Bulls for defender Danleigh Borman and midfielder Tony Tchani, Sportsnet has learned.
The attacking midfielder was not at TFC practice on Friday but the club has yet to confirm any move.
De Rosario's future with the club has been uncertain the last few months, beginning with an incident last season that saw the TFC player protest his salary by making a cheque-signing gesture during a goal celebration.
In the off-season, more fuel was added to the fire when confusion arose over whether or not De Rosario had the club's permission to travel to Scotland for a training stint with Celtic FC.
TFC has three points on the young MLS season, splitting its first two games. Next up for the club is a home game against Chivas USA this Saturday afternoon.
