It didn't take long for a veteran CFL free agent to find a new home.
Defensive tackle Dario Romero has come to terms on a two-year deal, including an option, with the Saskatchewan Roughriders, Sportsnet.ca has learned.
The 32-year-old, who played the last three seasons in Edmonton, agreed to the pact Thursday night, which will pay him around $80,000. A substantial pay cut from the $130,000 he was to earn with the Eskimos this season before being released nearly two weeks ago.
Romero will be reunited with his former head coach, Richie Hall, now the defensive coordinator in Regina.
His return to the CFL was in Montreal, where he spent two years with the Alouettes before signing with Edmonton in free agency in the winter of 2008.
Saskatchewan released Marcus Adams earlier this week, effectively opening up a spot for an experienced interior lineman.
