According to the Edmonton Journal, quarterback Jared Zabransky was not invited to the Eskimos' mini-camp this weekend, fueling speculation the young pivot may be on his way out of Edmonton.

Zabransky is unclear what the non-invite means since he would like to compete for a spot behind starter Ricky Ray, who is at the camp along with third-stringer Matt Nichols.

"I don't know what the situation is. I'm not going to read too much into it," Zabransky told the Edmonton Journal from Houston. "We were talking about bringing the quarterbacks up and I wasn't informed or notified whether I was coming up."

Eskimos general manager Eric Tillman told the media not to draw any conclusions based on who's in town or not in town this weekend.

"Our coaches preferred to have a smaller environment with an emphasis on teaching and, in some cases, evaluation," Tillman told the newspaper. "Suffice to say, some players who are absolutely 100 per cent in our plans for 2011 will not be in attendance. So participation, or non-participation, isn't the ultimate indicator of our future plans."

The players who were invited includes receivers Adarius Bowman, Chris Bauman, Calvin McCarty, Tyler Scott and Nate Binder, as well as offensive linemen Gord Hinse, Aaron Fiacconi and Kyle Koch. Veteran slotback Fred Stamps was not asked to attend.

The report indicates the Eskimos have been working out former Ole Miss and University of Oregon QB Jeremiah Masoli and also have their eye on Cody Kirby from Missouri State. Another name being heard is that of former Most Outstanding Player Kerry Joseph, who helped Tillman win a Grey Cup title with the Saskatchewan Roughriders in 2007.

"I remain in constant contact with Eric. We have a solid relationship," Joseph told the Journal. "And being good friends with Eric and (head coach) Kavis (Reed), I just like to stay in touch. Yes, I am still interested in playing."

Despite the possibility of a crowded position in training camp, Zabransky is not concerned about his future in the league but would like to stay in the Alberta capital, if possible.

"Yeah, a logical person would assume they're trying to do something. I don't know what to tell you. Your guess is as good as mine," Zabransky told the newspaper. "I'm not worried. I know what I'm capable of and I've proved I can win up there. I'm fine with wherever I'm at. I'd like to be in Edmonton, though, obviously."
