OEIRAS, Portugal (AP)—Fifth-seeded Milos Raonic advanced to the quarterfinals of the Estoril Open with a 6-3, 6-3 victory Thursday over Portugal's Joao Sousa.
Raonic had six aces on the outdoor clay. In February, he became the first Canadian to clinch an ATP Tour title since 1995. The 20-year-old has moved 130 spots in the rankings this year to No. 27.
Seventh-seeded South African Kevin Anderson defeated Victor Hanescu 6-4, 6-2.
In the women's competition, top-seeded Alisa Kleybanova lost 6-4, 6-2 to Kristina Barrois, and Anabel Medina Garrigues knocked out third-seeded Klara Zakopalova 6-3, 7-5.
