SASKATOON -- Police in Saskatoon have been asked to investigate a Facebook page containing an offensive comment about aboriginal people that was written by someone impersonating one of Canada's top junior hockey players.
The comment is contained in a page written under the name of Brayden Schenn, a star forward with the Western Hockey League's Saskatoon Blades.
Schenn says in a statement that he had nothing to do with the site and he apologizes to anyone who was hurt by it.
Lorne Molleken, the team's head coach and general manager, says the posting is hurtful and unfair for Schenn, a 19-year-old Saskatoon native who was drafted in 2009 by the NHL's Los Angeles Kings.
The Blades say nine bogus Brayden Schenn tribute pages on Facebook have been taken down and that the club now has a policy which prohibits any player from keeping a Facebook account.
The Blades and Prince Albert Raiders have two wins each in their best-of-seven WHL Eastern Conference quarter-final playoff series. (CKOM, CJLR)
