QUEBEC -- Jean-Gabriel Pageau scored a hat trick as the Gatineau Olympiques staved off elimination with a 5-3 victory Friday over the Quebec Remparts in Game 5 of their Quebec Major Junior Hockey League semifinal series.
The Remparts still lead the best-of-seven 3-2 with Game 6 set for Sunday in Gatineau, Que.
Christian Ouellet and Philip-Michael Devos had a goal and an assist each for the Olympiques, while Maxime Clermont stopped 24 of 27 shots.
Tomas Filippi, Olivier Hinse and Vincent Barnard had the goals for Quebec.
Pageau scored his first of the game in the first period, giving Gatineau a 2-1 lead heading into the second.
Filippi tied the game seven minutes into the second period, but Pageau restored the lead with his 11th of the post-season.
Devos gave the Olympiques a two-goal cushion at 16:49 of the third and Pageau got his third of the game with an empty-netter to make it 5-2.
Hinse pulled one back while on the power play with under a minute left to play.
Ouellet and Barnard traded goals in the first period.
Louis Domingue finished with 20 saves for the Remparts, who went 2-for-3 on the power play.
