The Saskatchewan Roughriders signed import safety James Patrick to a contract extension on Monday.
Financial terms were not released.
Patrick led the CFL with nine interceptions for 195 yards and one touchdown in his breakout 2010 campaign. In 18 regular season games, the five-foot-11, 175-pound Alabama native also tallied 68 defensive tackles, seven special team tackles, one fumble recovery and one forced fumble.
Since originally signing with the Riders as a free agent in 2008, the 28-year-old Patrick has played in 53 regular season games for the Roughriders. In that time, he has added 136 defensive tackles, 31 special team tackles, 13 interceptions for a total 253 yards and one touchdown and four fumble recoveries.
Patrick played quarterback, receiver and safety at Booker T. Washington High School in his hometown of Tuskegee, Ala., and also lined up under centre at Stillman College in Tuscaloosa, Ala.
