Following an illustrious career in the Canadian Football League, ten-yer veteran Andre Talbot announced his retirement on Thursday.

"Andre informed us yesterday he has decided to retire from professional football," Eskimo general manager Eric Tillman said. "He was very gracious about his experience with the Eskimos and we thanked him for his contributions to our club and league.

"It's always nice when a player leaves the game at peace and on his own terms.  As he goes to the next phase of life, Andre has much to be proud of, including his significant role in the Toronto Argonauts' 2004 championship season."

Talbot played the 2010 season in Edmonton after spending his entire career with the Argonauts.

Traded to Edmonton in February 2010, he played 13 games in green and gold and had 27 catches for 301 yards and a touchdown.

Originally drafted in the fifth round (34th overall) in the 2001 CFL Canadian Draft, Talbot spent nine years with the Argos, winning the Grey Cup in 2004. The Ontario native retires with 288 career receptions for 3,703 yards and 18 touchdowns over 126 games.

"After 10 great years, I am now energized and inspired to go in a new direction," Talbot said. "I want to thank the Argonauts and Eskimos organizations, all my teammates and opponents over the years and most importantly, all the fans who rooted me on and who will continue to motivate and inspire young players of today."
