The Vancouver Canucks clinched the Presidents' Trophy for the first time since entering the NHL in 1970 by beating the Los Angeles Kings 3-1 on Thursday night.
The win, combined with Philadelphia's 1-0 loss to Atlanta, gives the Canucks 113 points, assuring them of finishing first in the regular-season standings for the first time. They also finished March with a 13-2-0 record, setting a team mark for the most wins in a single month.
NHL scoring leader Daniel Sedin had a goal and an assist to become the first player this season to reach 100 points.
