HEERENVEEN, Netherlands -- Christine Nesbitt's consistent season earned the Canadian long-track speedskater a second-place finish in the overall World Cup 1,000-metre standings.

The London, Ont., native had to settle for fourth in the 1,000 at Sunday's season-ending World Cup meet, but her six gold medals earlier this season were enough to earn her 590 points.

American Heather Richardson claimed the overall title with 605 points, while Margot Boer of the Netherlands was third with 360.

Ireen Wust won Sunday's 1,000 ahead of Dutch teammates Marrit Leenstra and Laurine van Riessen.

Shannon Rempel of Winnipeg was 10th to finish seventh in the season standings.

Stefan Groothuis won the men's overall World Cup title after beating Lee Kyou-hyuk by 0.34 seconds in the 1,000 metres.

Groothuis finished in one minute 8.66 seconds to hold off Lee, the 500 champion. Shani Davis, the four-time 1,500 champ, was third in 1:09.21 and came third overall.

Denny Morrison of Fort St. John, B.C., was sixth.

Groothuis of the Netherlands finished with 590 points, while Lee had 522, and Davis had 485. Morrison was fifth with 336.

Jenny Wolf's dominance of the women's 500 continued, picking yet another title after winning Sunday's race in 38.37 seconds. Lee Sang-hwa finished 0.11 seconds behind Wolf to take the overall silver.
