{allcanada} WHL: FROESE HAT TRICK LEADS REBELS PAST RAIDERS

Byron Froese scored three goals as the Red Deer Rebels dumped the Prince Albert Raiders 7-4 in Western Hockey League action Wednesday.

Ryan Nugent-Hopkins added a goal and three assists for the Rebels, who won after having their 11-game winning streak ended in Saskatoon Tuesday night.

John Persson, Colin Archer and Adam Kambeitz also scored for Red Deer (36-13-5), which trails WHL-leading Saskatoon by five points.

Elsewhere in the WHL it was: Saskatoon 6 Regina 2; Brandon 3 Swift Current 2; Calgary 3 Kootenay 1; Vancouver 5 Lethbridge 4 (SO); Everett 3 Kamloops 2; Kelowna 6 Chilliwack 4; and Tri-City 4 Edmonton 3 (OT).

At Prince Albert,Sask., Igor Revenko had three goals for the Raiders (20-28-5), who blew a 3-1 first-period lead. Todd Fiddler also scored.

Dawson Guhle made 28 saves for Red Deer while Jamie Tucker stopped 35 shots for Prince Albert.

Blades 6 Pats 2

At Saskatoon, Jake Trask scored twice as the league-leading Blades won their seventh straight with a victory over Regina.

Duncan Siemens, Curtis Hamilton, Matej Stransky, Marek Viedensky also scored for the Blades (40-10-2), who also got four assists from Brayden Schenn.

Jordan Weal and Shayne Neigum replied for Regina (18-26-7).

Wheat Kings 3 Broncos 2

At Brandon, Man., Shayne Wiebe scored twice to lead the Wheat Kings over Swift Current.

Jordan Fransoo also scored for the Wheat Kings, who improved to 19-27-8.

Justin Dowling and Reece Scarlett replied for the Broncos, who have lost seven straight games and sit at 23-31-1.

Hitmen 3 Ice 1

At Calgary, Brandon Glover stopped 32 shots to lead the Hitmen to a over Kootenay Ice.

Kris Foucault, Trevor Cheek and Jimmy Bubnick scored for the Hitmen (16-34-3), who snapped a six-game losing streak.

Matt Fraser scored for the Ice (33-17-3).

Giants 5 Hurricanes 4 (SO)

At Lethbridge, Alta., Brendan Gallagher had a goal and three assists and also scored in the shootout as Vancouver beat the Hurricanes.

Andrej Stastny also scored in the shootout, while neither Lethbridge shooter could beat Vancouver goaltender Mark Segal.

Spencer Bennett, Neil Manning and Brendan Rowinski also scored in regulation for Vancouver (28-20-5), while Segal made 29 saves.

Mitch Maxwell, Reid Jackson, Brody Sutter and Mike Reddington replied for Lethbridge (17-24-11).

Silvertips 3 Blazers 2

At Kamloops, B.C., Tyler Maxwell's second goal of the game, at 16:29 of the third period, gave Everett a victory over the Blazers.

Ryan Murray also scored for Everett (22-23-7).

Corey Fienhage and Colin Smith scored for Kamloops (22-29-3).

Rockets 6 Bruins 4

At Kelowna, B.C., Evan Bloodoff scored twice as the Rockets beat Chilliwack.

Cody Chikie, Zak Stebner, Georgie Wudrick and Colton Sissons also scored for Kelowna (30-20-0).

Roman Horak scored twice, while Mike Forsyth and Kevin Sundher had the other goals for Chilliwack (21-25-4).

Americans 4 Oil Kings 3 (OT)

At Kennewick, Wash., Matt MacKenzie scored the game-winner just 53 seconds in overtime to lead Tri-City over Edmonton.

Justin Feser, Adam Hughesman and Jordan Messier also scored for the Americans (32-13-3).

Michael St. Croix, Klarc Wilson and Dylan Wruck scored for Edmonton (24-24-4).
