CALGARY -- Linebacker Malik Jackson has signed a contract extension with the Calgary Stampeders.
Jackson started all 18 regular-season games and the West final at outside linebacker in 2010, and posted 61 tackles including a team-high six tackles for loss.
"Malik has been a solid contributor on our defence over the past two seasons," Stampeders head coach and GM John Hufnagel said Tuesday in a release. "His great athleticism and speed allows him to play numerous positions for us on defence and also be a great asset on special teams."
Jackson recorded six sacks and added one interception, four pass knockdowns, seven special-teams tackles, two forced fumbles and three fumble recoveries last season.
He scored a touchdown on a 41-yard fumble return during the July 1 season opener versus Toronto. He also had an interception during the division final against Saskatchewan.
Jackson was named Calgary's nominee for most outstanding rookie in 2009.
