Brett Thompson had four goals and six points to headline the Erie Otters 8-2 win over the Windsor Spitfires in Ontario Hockey League action Saturday night.
Phil Varone had a goal and set up four others for Erie and Anthony Luciani scored and added three assists.
The line of Thompson, Varone and Luciani combined for six goals and 14 points in the game.
Thompson tied Erie's single-season record for goals in a game and fell one point short of the franchise mark of seven on a night when the Otters celebrated their 1000th game.
The Otters pre-game ceremony honoured the 15-year-old franchise's history, starting with Sean Courtney's title-clinching goal in the 2002 OHL finals.
Video messages from former Otters Brad Boyes, Chris Campoli and Ryan O'Reilly, followed by the introduction of alumni T.J. Aceti, Chris Berti, Courtney, Mike McKeown, Steve Nimigon and Brad Yeo.
Elsewhere in the OHL it was: Niagara 2 Brampton 0; Sudbury 4 Peterborough 3; London 5 Belleville 4 (SO); Plymouth 7 Sarnia 3; Barrie 8 Kingston 6 and Owen Sound 5 Guelph 1.
At Erie, Pa., rookie Luke Cairns and Shawn Szydlowski added singles for the Otters (27-23-2).
Ryan Ellis and Brady Vail replied for the Spitfires (27-17-5).

At St. Catharines, Ont., Mark Visentin made 38 saves for his third shutout of the season as Niagara blanked Brampton.
Dougie Hamilton and Steven Shipley provided the offence for the IceDogs (33-11-6).
Matej Machovsky stopped 22 shots for the Battalion (21-23-6).

At Peterborough, Ont., Sudbury won its fourth-straight game as it prevailed over the Petes.
Michael Sgarbossa led the Wolves (21-26-3) with two goals, while Eric O'Dell and Gregory Jambrosich also scored.
Joey West had a goal and an assist for Peterborough (15-34-2). Slater Koekkoek and Austin Watson both found the back of the net for the Petes, who suffered their fourth-straight loss.

Knights 5 Bulls 4 (SO)
At Belleville, Ont., Stephen Sanza had a goal and an assist as London earned a shootout victory over the Bulls.
Ryan Rupert, Cody Donnay and Jared Knight also scored for London (27-18-4). Both Knight and Rupert scored in the shootout for the Knights.
Austen Brassard notched a pair of goals for Belleville (14-32-3), while Joe Underwood and Stephen Silas both scored singles.

Whalers 7 Sting 3
At Plymouth, Mich., Stefan Noesen had a five-point night to lead the Whalers over Sarnia.
Noesen scored two goals and assisted on three others for Plymouth (29-19-4), while Robbie Czarnik scored twice and added two assists and Rickard Rakell had a goal and tacked on a pair of assists.
Jamie Devane and Tyler Brown also scored for the Whalers. Colin MacDonald recorded three assists and James Livingston drew an assist in his 300th OHL game.
Rookie sensation Nail Yakupov had his 39th of the year for the Sting (18-26-6). Brandon Francisco and JC Campagna also scored.

At Barrie, Ont., Colin Behenna scored a hat trick to lead the Colts to victory over Kingston.
Mark Scheifele added two goals and a pair of assists for Barrie (11-36-4), with Petr Beranek, Dylan Smoskowitz and Eric Locke scoring singles.
Charles Sarault, Tyler Brown, Brett Morgan, Ryan Spooner, Conor Stokes and Michael Fine replied for the Frontenacs (24-21-5), who lost for the third time in their last four games.

At Owen Sound, Ont., Robby Mignardi had a pair of goals as the Attack dispersed Guelph.
