The field for the Canadian men's curling championship March 5-13 in London, Ont., began to fill with five provincial champions crowned on the weekend.
New Brunswick's James Gratton, 2006 Olympic champion Brad Gushue of Newfoundland and Labrador, Saskatchewan's Pat Simmons, Quebec's Francois Gagne and Nova Scotia's Shawn Adams all secured their berths in the Brier.
P.E.I.'s entry will be determined Monday with the Ontario, Northern Ontario, B.C., Alberta, Manitoba and Yukon/Northwest Territories finals to be played next Sunday.
Gratton beat Rich Perron 6-4 in the New Brunswick final Sunday. Gushue downed Alex Smith 7-1, Simmons defeated Carl deConinck Smith 8-6, Adams beat Steve Ogden 7-5 and Gagne edged 2006 Canadian champion Jean-Michel Menard 8-7.
The winner of the Brier represents Canada at the Ford World Men's Curling Championship in Regina from April 2 to April 10th.
