CRANS MONTANA, Switzerland -- Canada's Philip Brown won a bronze medal Thursday in the combined event at the FIS world junior ski championships.
Brown, 20, rose one position to third after he recorded a 14th-place finish in the downhill with a time of one minute 39.25 seconds.
"I knew getting into this race that I had pretty a good chance of being on the podium," Brown said.
Brown, of Toronto, finished with 67.15 points. He was 10th in the slalom and 11th in the giant slalom.
Erik Read of Calgary was fifth in the combined event. In the women's slalom, Brittany Phelan of Mont-Tremblant, Que., finished fifth.
