Alex Friesen scored the game-winning goal with just under four minutes left as the Niagara IceDogs beat the Peterborough Petes 4-3 in the Ontario Hockey League on Saturday.
Ryan Strome and Friesen gave the IceDogs (23-9-4) a 2-0 lead through the first 20 minutes.
But Peterborough (11-23-2) fought back in the second period. Kalle Ekelund scored on the power play at 17:05 and 22 seconds later Justin Larson made a strong individual effort to tie the game at two.
The IceDogs regained the lead early in the third when Darren Archibald scored at 1:22.
The Petes tied it up when Matt Puempel fought through a check and buried a wrist shot as he fell to the ice.
David Pacan stick handled to the high slot and fired a shot that rebounded off Petes' goaltender Andrew D'Agostini onto the stick of Friesen, who took a strike wide of the net and slid the winner just inside the post at 16:22.
Peterborough pressed for an equalizer, but Niagara defenceman Mike Schwindt blocked two shots in the finals 30 seconds to help preserve the win.
Dalton McGrath stopped 26 shots in net for the IceDogs, while D'Agostini finished with 24 saves.
Elsewhere in the OHL it was: Guelph 7 Saginaw 3; Mississauga 2 Kingston 1; Owen Sound 6 Ottawa 5; Oshawa 4 Kitchener 2; London 8 Sarnia 4 and Brampton 2 Belleville 1 (SO).

Storm 7 Spirit 3
At Guelph, Ont., Peter Holland and Michael Latta both had a pair of goals and two assists as the Storm downed Saginaw.
Cody McNaughton scored and added two assists for Guelph (17-15-5), while Francis Menard and Scott Kosmachuk chipped in with goals of their own.
John McFarland had back-to-back power-play goals for the Spirit (24-8-4) in the third period. Peter Hermenegildo also found the back of the net.

Majors 2 Frontenacs 1
At Kingston, Ont., Gregg Sutch scored twice as Mississauga defeated the Frontenacs.
Sutch tied the game up late in the second and added the winner midway through the third for the Majors (29-5-1).
Sean Jones replied for Kingston (17-15-4).

Attack 6 67's 5
At Owen Sound, Ont., Joey Hishon scored two late goals as the Attack rallied to beat Ottawa.
Hishon also had three assists for Owen Sound (24-11-2), which also got goals from Garrett Wilson, Andrew Fritsch, Matt Petgrave and Daniel Zweep.
Shane Prince led the 67's (25-11-2) with a goal and three assists, while Jake Cardwell, Cody Lindsay, Travis Gibbons and Ryan Martindale also scored.

At Oshawa, Ont., Nicklas Jensen had a goal and three assists for the Generals in a victory over Kitchener.
Alain Berger and Andy Andreoff both had a pair of goals for Oshawa (21-9-6), who have won three in row since the Christmas break.
Tyler Randell and Ryan MacLean scored for the Rangers (22-9-4).

Knights 8 Sting 4
At London, Ont., Seth Griffith struck twice and added an assist as the Knights sailed past Sarnia.
Captain Michael D'Orazio, Jared Knight and Colin Martin all had a goal and an assist for London (17-14-3), while Scott Harrington, Stephen Sanza and Dane Fox added singles.
Brett Ritchie had a pair of goals for the Sting (15-16-4), while Kale Kerbashian scored and added two assists. Nail Yakupov chipped in as well.

Battalion 2 Bulls 1 (SO)
At Belleville, Ont., Barclay Goodrow, Michael Santini and Spencer Abraham all scored in the shootout as Brampton edged the Bulls.
Santini's goal 2:47 into the third period forced overtime for the Battalion (16-14-5).
Captain Luke Judson scored in regulation time for Belleville (12-23-3), while Adam Payerl and Austen Brassard's shootout goals weren't enough for the Bulls.
