John Chartrand worked hard to earn the Barrie Colts a rare win on Saturday night.
Chartrand made 42 saves to lead Barrie to a 2-1 victory over the Brampton Battalion in Ontario Hockey League action.
The Colts' last win also came at home against the Battalion on Jan. 6. It was also the first time this season that Barrie won a game after being tied through one period in 15 opportunities.
Brampton out shot the Colts 43-22, including an 18-4 spread in the final frame, but were unable to beat Chartrand save for MacLeod's first-period marker.
There were just two power plays per team on the evening, and both went 0-for-2 with the man advantage.
Including last season's playoffs, Barrie has now won seven of its past eight contests at home against the Battalion.
Cody St. Jacques turned aside 20 shots for Brampton in defeat.
Elsewhere in the OHL it was: Ottawa 3 Kingston 2; Mississauga 5 Peterborough 2; Sudbury 7 Guelph 6; Plymouth 4 Oshawa 0; Niagara 5 Saginaw 4; Owen Sound 6 Erie 3 and Sault Ste. Marie 7 Belleville 0.
At Barrie, Ont., Brandon Devlin scored his first career OHL goal and Colin Behenna had the winner for the Colts (9-35-4), who snapped a nine-game losing streak.
Matt MacLeod responded for Brampton (20-21-6), which has won just one of its past six contests.

At Ottawa, Cody Lindsay had a hat trick to lead the 67's past Kingston.
Sean Monahan and Thomas Nesbitt each had two assists for Ottawa (31-15-2).
Michal Cajkovsky and Taylor Brown scored for the Frontenacs (23-20-5), who trailed 3-0 with just over six minutes to play before fighting back to within a goal.

Majors 5 Petes 2
At Peterborough, Ont., Casey Cizikas scored two goals to lead Mississauga past the Petes.
Chris DeSousa also had a pair of goals and an assist for the Majors (36-8-2), while Devante Smith-Pelly had a goal and set up two others.
Geoff Bezruchko and Joey West replied for Peterborough (15-31-2).

Wolves 7 Storm 6
At Sudbury, Ont., Michael MacDonald scored the short-handed game-winning goal with two seconds left to play and added an assist as the Wolves defeated Guelph.
Captain Marcus Foligno added a goal and two assists for Sudbury (18-26-3), while Eric O'Dell added a power-play goal and two assists in the win. Justin Sefton, Greg Jambrosich, Joshua Leivo, and Mike Lomas added singles for the Wolves.
Forward Justin Beck scored twice, including a power-play goal, for the Storm (22-20-5). Stephen Gaskin, Francis Menard, and Daniel Erlich chipped in as well. Scott Kosmachuk added a goal and an assist, while Michael Latta and Matt Finn each added a pair of helpers.

Whalers 4 Generals 0
At Plymouth, Mich., Matt Mahalak stopped 36 shots as the Whalers blanked Oshawa.
Mahalak's older brother RJ scored and added an assist for Plymouth (27-18-4) as did Jamie Devane. James Livingston and Tyler Brown both had goals.
Peter Di Salvo made 18 saves for the Generals (25-14-8).

At Saginaw, Mich., Freddie Hamilton scored twice and added an assist as Niagara withstood a late Spirit rally.
Alex Friesen, David Pacan and Darrin Archibald all scored for the IceDogs (31-11-6) and Ryan Strome added three assists.
John McFarland, Josh Shalla, Justin Kea and Jordan Szwarz replied for Saginaw (32-13-4).

At Owen Sound, Ont., Liam Heelis scored the game-winning goal with 3:19 left in the third period as the Attack thumped Erie.
Robby Mignardi and Andrew Shaw scored in the final minute of play to pad the lead for Owen Sound (31-15-2). Captain Garrett Wilson, Roman Berdnikov and Jesse Blacker chipped in as well.
Phil Varone struck twice for the Otters (25-22-2) and Brett Thompson put the puck away on a penalty shot at the end of the second period.

Greyhounds 7 Bulls 0
At Sault Ste. Marie, Ont., Matt Murray turned aside 22 shots to earn the shutout as the Greyhounds rocked Belleville.
Defenceman Ryan Sproul led Sault Ste. Marie (16-24-6) with a hat trick and an assist. Vern Cooper and Michael Kantor both had a goal and an assist, while Trevor Morbeck and David Quesnele added singles.
Malcolm Subban started in net for Belleville (14-29-3), making 16 saves on 19 shots in 25:10 of work. Tyson Teichmann stopped 12 of 16 shots in relief.
