Jonathan Brookins, who won Season 12 of The Ultimate Fighter, is expected to make his return to the octagon on Saturday, Apr. 30 as part of the UFC's historic event at Toronto's Rogers Centre.
A source has informed me that Brookins (12-3) will have his hands full in his return as he is expected to take on undefeated lightweight John (The Bull) Makdessi (8-0).
The Bull made his organizational debut at UFC 124, defeating Pat Audinwood via unanimous judges decision, while showcasing a wide array of kicks, that not only raised eyebrows with fans in attendance at Montreal's Bell Centre but with UFC executives as well.
Brookins, fresh off his TUF 12 victory over Michael Johnson just one week earlier, was also in attendance and was treated with "rock star" status everywhere he went. It remains to be seen how the American will be treated when he enters hostile territory against a Canadian in Makdessi.
Numerous sources have informed me that MacDonald (10-1) and James (Lightning) Wilks (7-4) have verbally agreed to square off at the Rogers Centre on Apr. 30.
Wilks, the Season 9 welterweight winner of The Ultimate Fighter, will be looking to rebound from a disappointing loss at UFC 120 suffered at the hands of another Canadian, Claude (The Prince) Patrick.
As for Rory, a knee injury forced him to withdraw from his UFC 123 bout against Matt Brown, where he was hoping to rebound from the first loss of his career, a TKO finish that came courtesy of Carlos (The Natural Born Killer) Condit at UFC 115 last June.
