Steve Arpin, who was recently named the 2010 Inside Track Reader's Choice Awards Canadian Racer of the Year, has added his name to the entry list for the February 12 Lucas Oil Slick Mist 200, the season opener for the ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards.
Arpin was honored nine days ago at the Canadian Motorsports Expo, held in Toronto, as the Canadian Racer of the Year at the Highest Levels of International Competition. A key factor in Arpin's award was winning three races in the ARCA Racing Series in 2010, more than any other driver. The Ontario native won in back-to-back weeks at Salem (Ind.) Speedway and Texas Motor Speedway in April, and again at the DuQuoin (Ill.) State Fairgrounds on Labor Day.
He will drive the No. 25 Venturini Motorsports Toyota at Daytona, where he has made two previous ARCA starts. Arpin finished 20th in 2009 and 10th last season.
In another addition to the entry list, Matt Merrell will drive the No. 32 Win-Tron Racing Toyota with sponsorship from Red Line Oil. Merrell has made 13 starts in ARCA Racing Series competition, the most recent of which came in 2009 at Salem. His start will be his first at Daytona International Speedway.
Forty-three drivers and 46 cars are entered, with several more expected to come. The latest entry list appears below.
