MEDICINE HAT, Alta. -- Olympic champion Kevin Martin moved into a tie atop the standings with a victory in Draw 6 Thursday at the Canada Cup of Curling.
The Edmonton native doubled Mike McEwen 8-4 to improve his unbeaten record to 3-0 in Section A. He joins Randy Ferbey (3-0), who moved atop the section earlier with a 7-2 romp over Mat Camm (0-3).
Previously unbeaten Kevin Koe (3-1) dropped to second in Section B after being upset by Jeff Stoughton 5-3 in Draw 6. It was Stoughton's (1-2) first win of the tournament.
Glenn Howard (2-0), who plays in one of the later draws, is atop Section B.
Also in Draw 6, Brent Bawel (1-2) hammered winless Rob Fowler 9-1.
Meanwhile, Shannon Kleibrink is 3-0 and atop Section A after an 11-5 Draw 6 victory over Stefanie Lawton (3-1), who dropped to second place.
In other Draw 6 play, Cheryl Bernard (2-1) moved into second in Section B with a 7-4 win over Shelley Nichols (0-4).
Secion B leader Krista McCarville (2-0) plays later Thursday.
Jennifer Jones (2-1) is third in Section A.
