Lucas Gore made 32 saves and the Chilliwack Bruins ended Kootenay's seven-game winning streak with a 6-2 win over the Ice in Western Hockey League action Tuesday.
Chilliwack opened the scoring late in the first period on a 2-on-1 break as Stephen Hodges cruised down the left wing and scored on a wrist shot low on the glove side of Kootenay goalie Nathan Lieuwen.
The Bruins (9-5-0) took control of the game with three goals in less than three minutes early in the second period.
Brandon Magee started the flurry when scored on a wrist shot high on Lieuwen's stick side.
Roman Horak followed then he crashed the crease on a power play and banged in a loose puck.
The Bruins made it 4-0 after a Kootenay player deflected a pass into his own net. The goal was awarded to Brendan Persley.
The WHL's top power play added a goal on a two-man advantage goal late in the second period. Brandon Manning blasted a slapshot from the top of the slot that beat Lieuwen.
Bruins made it 6-0 in the third as Ryan Howse went in on a breakaway and scored on a backhand deke. That was it for Lieuwen, who was replaced by Brett Teskey.
Elsewhere in the WHL it was: Medicine Hat 2 Calgary 1; Spokane 3 Saskatoon 2; Kelowna 6 Prince George 2; and Seattle 4 Red Deer 1.
At Cranbrook, B.C., Kootenay broke up the shutout bid on a power play as Christian Magnus fed Drew Czerwonka in the high slot and his one-time shot went through Gore's legs.
The Ice (11-4-1) scored their second of the game off a faceoff win as Jagger Dirk's high shot from the point was deflected in by Adam Rossignol for his first career goal.
Lieuwen stopped 12 of 18 shots he faced, while Teskey stopped all four shots he faced in relief.
